See Eleven Openings By ARTBUS This Weekend

by HUNTER GORINSON · September 10, 2010

Saturday, September 11th will, coincidentally, see almost a dozen new art exhibitions open simultaneously at galleries citywide.   To spur interest in the season's newest offerings, the D.C. Commission on the Arts & Humanities is providing the chance to take them in all at once via a concept they're calling the ART BUS.

Sure, it ain't exactly a stretch Town Car -- or to be more D.C. savvy, an environmentally friendly Smart Car -- but visitors can hitch a free ride to all 11 participating galleries on the art-centric shuttle bus from three locations in Logan Circle, U Street and the Atlas District.  That's more than 15 emerging artists, six some miles, and innumerable glasses of free wine -- all on the District's dime.

Check out a complete breakdown of the shuttle's routes and the works up for display below, or head over check the ART BUS on Facebook for all the details.
