66th Annual Congressional Dinner

Joining masters of ceremonies Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC are featured speakers Representative Mike Pence of Indiana and Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri. Invited guests included Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Republican Leader Senator Mitch McConnell. Among the awards presented at the dinner is the The Washington Press Club Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognizes an individual whose outstanding accomplishments promote the journalistic profession and enhance the role of women journalists. The 2010 recipient is Dorothy Gilliam.The Congressional Dinner is the major fundraising event supporting the work of the WPCF. Originally an event hosted by the Women’s National Press Club it remains the place for those who make the laws and those who cover them to share an evening of good natured fun. Traditionally the first press dinner of the year, it is attended by members of the Washington press corps, members of Congress, elected officials and other DC notables. As the premier fundraising event for the Foundation, the proceeds from the dinner fund the internship and scholarship programs.
