Peruvian art and culture come to life in the special exhibit "Makiykumanta: Peru Arts and Cultural Legacy" July 13 - 18, 2010 the Potomac Atrium of the National Museum of the American Indian.
’Makiykumanta,’ Quechua for "from our hands," showcases more than 20 Peruvian artisans and a variety of artistic mediums including Chulucanas pottery, embroidered textiles, sculptures and performance art including music and guest lecturers. Gastronomical exhibits will also highlight Peru’s famous culinary history and include free Pisco Sour tastings each afternoon.
The National Museum of the American Indian is open daily 10:00am - 5:30pm; admission is free.
