Fort Ward Park wasn't always a park. It was once a fort that defended Washington DC during the Civil War. These days, this historic park holds different events, including the upcoming annual jazz festival.
This Memorial day head down to Alexandria, Virginia to hear big band, swing, and contemporary jazz music. Bring the family-there's a nice playground for the kiddies. Purchase food and drink there or bring a picnic.
If it rains, the festival will go on at Lee Center's Kauffman Auditorium (1108 Jefferson St.)
