They don’t call it “DC’s top conservative happy hour” for nothing.
From toasting the 2010 midterm shellacking to drinking to the demise of Osama bin Laden, from blazing the Style section of The Washington Post to illuminating the Metromix DC website, and everything in between, there's no doubt it’s been a very busy year for First Friday. So what better time to turn things up a notch?
*** On Friday, October 7, we are honored to welcome “America’s Newspaper,” The Washington Times, in co-sponsorship of the first-ever open bar at First Friday. ***
Yes, you read that right. The Washington Times and First Friday will be teaming up to present the most exciting happy hour experience of the year. The action will take place at Union Pub and begin at 5:30 pm. The open bar will be limited, and the crowd will be massive, so come early and be ready to kick off your weekend the 'right' way—with an icy cold beverage (or several) and guaranteed good company to go with it.
For this special edition of First Friday, we also welcome back famed TV commentator and activist extraordinaire, the president of Americans for Tax Reform, Grover Norquist. As the man behind the anti-tax pledge Newsweek says "has transformed American politics," Mr. Norquist is a longtime FF-fan and will be happy to chat, take a picture, or just have a drink with you.
This obviously won't be a typical Friday evening—as the president might say, "It's math." And it's a simple equation: Washington Times-sponsored open bar + special guest Grover Norquist + one of the coolest venues in the Nation's Capital + the chance to see and be seen with "Capitol Hill's in-crowd" (as Metromix puts it) = The most exciting First Friday ever? Yes.
Friday. 10/7. 5:30 pm. Union Pub. Be there or be talked about.
