Socials 'poured' in to the Renaissance Dupont Circle Hotel for a happy hour that celebrated the hotel's line of RX summer cocktails, which were inspired by local celebs. The line of signature cocktails, available through June 30, is specially crafted by master mixologists Ari and Micah Wilder for Diageo, with inspiration from the individual tastes, favorite flavors and style of Amanda McClements, DC’s resident food connoisseur and founder of Metrocurean; Dr. Mark Drapeau of Microsoft; Svetlana Legetic, the EIC and founder of Brightest Young Things; Venga's Winston Lord; and last season’s RX winner Rich Amons from The Real Housewives of DC. Alumni from UNC, UVA, Vanderbilt and Georgetown boarded the Miss Christin for a mixer that featured music by DJ Esso and stunning views of the DC and Virginia skylines. Wilson Tavern, which has technically been open for a few months at 2403 Wilson Blvd, re-opened on Friday with an 80's party and new ownership under nightlife mastermind Reese Gardner. Reese put in a top-of-the-line sound system, and weekly specials like $2 mahi-mahi fish tacos on Tuesdays, 25-cent wings on Mondays, and a new weekend brunch menu with $2 mimosas and glasses of champagne. It was a beautiful day at the Woodrow Wilson House for a garden party yesterday early evening. Ladies and gents donned their best hats for the hat competition, and guests indulged in light bites and cocktails as they perused the blooming flowers and silent auction on the grounds. The party, now in its 24th year, is a rite of passage from spring to summer and a staple on the Washington social calendar. More»

Last night, Gilt City had a carnival on the rooftop of the W Hotel that featured everything from the W's new summer cocktails to carnival games to carnival treats like corn dogs and candy apples. Bliss Spa (which has a post at the W) provided complimentary massages and nail polish changes, and everyone was going crazy for the gelato from Dolci Gelati. DAR Constitution Hall was the answer to every southerner's prayers as the 30th Annual Taste of the South kicked off with samples of favorite foods from below the Mason-Dixon line, like salt water taffy, Coca-Cola products, Fitz's root beer, BBQ and much, much more.
