The gays and the people who love them were disappointed to see that Hank's Oyster Bar had closed down a portion of their patio this past weekend. The question on everyone's lips was, "why?"
It seemed to be an interesting choice to close a portion of the patio--and not the entire patio--of the Dupont Circle hot spot the day before one of the busiest days of the summer. Saturday night at the Corcoran was the scene of this year’s Artini, held by the 1869 Society to benefit local charity ArtReach. Eleven top local mixologists showed up to put their creativity to the test with their most inventive cocktail. The only thing that can drag my attention away from a perfectly crafted cocktail would be a perfectly crafted outfit, of which there were an astonishing number on Saturday night.
The creative cocktail theme was not only evident in the libations but also the patrons. Like only a few cocktails making the cut for Artini, I had trouble narrowing down my ten favorite picks of the night.
