Last night, the Junior Council of the Children's National Medical Center held a reception to kick off a new year of fundraising, events, and volunteering. The organization of young professionals in run by co-chairs Jim McInerney and Clare Bonsignore, and the funds raised by the group go straight to the medical center--one of very few hospitals exclusively for children in the country, and the only one in the greater DMV area. The hospital is over 140 years old, and cares for over 360,000 children each year.

Members and prospective members enjoyed wine and bites in a glass room in the corner of the hospital, which overlooked stunning views of Washington. There were a few quick words about the group, then people signed up to volunteer with three of their upcoming events: the color run on October 21, MIX for Kids Radiothon on September 28, and Dancing After Dark, their annual gala at the Swedish Embassy on January 26.

There is a small membership fee of $50 to join, and $45 of that is tax-deductible. If you want to get involved in a great cause, Join Here!!
