Last night, the District Design Society held their second annual Creative Black Tie Party, this year at Longview Gallery near Chinatown. The scene: architects, interior designers, builders and engineers donning cocktail and black tie outfits with a touch of sparkle, funky shoes, peacock feathers, masks, and one girl with an origami hair piece.

[Some of the more creative pieces included the origami hair piece and a mask]

The District Design Society has snowballed via word-of-mouth, and maintains a private Facebook group [request membership here]. There are monthly happy hours, and the premise is to mix and mingle--there are no membership fees, just a well-maintained email list.

"Our goal is to build relationships at agenda-free, no-strings-attached events," said Lee Odess, one of the board members.

    The rest of the board:

Jen Odess (his wife) of energy + light + control

    Amanda King of Charles Luck

    Jennifer Taxson of Illuminations

    Ilan Fulop of Rockville Interiors

    Lori Hilty of Mats, Inc.

    Lindsey Farrell of HADCO

In addition to each other\'s company, guests enjoyed drinks and really delicious passed hors d\'oeuvres. Music was provided by DJ Chest Rockwell.
