Last night was the grand re-opening of the historic Howard Theatre, which marked the theatre's 101st birthday. The venue has hosted legendary black musicians like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and The Supremes throughout its history.

The theatre, which had been closed since 1980, underwent a $29 million restoration, led by Ellis Development Group [Read more about the design]. Last night's party kicked off with an open bar reception, which paved the way for a concert featuring Trombone Shorty and George Clinton.
