Washington's L'Enfant Society, Having A Ball On The Mall

by CHRISTINE DELARGY · May 12, 2010

Washington’s L’Enfant Society had a ball on the mall this weekend- literally. For two years now this group of young DC leaders in business, government and philanthropic circles, has hosted the Ball on the Mall in collaboration with the Trust for the National Mall. This year’s black tie dinner raised over $350,000 for the restoration of America’s front yard.

On this gorgeous Saturday evening, nearly 350 people sat down for a VIP dinner and another 450 joined afterwards for dancing. Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan and Mrs. Veronica Valencia-Sarukhan were the 2010 ball’s honorary co-chairs and hence a Mexican theme was chosen-- that called for colorful tents and a menu that included enchiladas and polenta cakes. DJ Heather Fermia kept the packed dancing tent rocking.

Guests included Andy Baldwin, Luke Russert, Matt Dornic, Glenn Ballard, Pamela Sorensen, Michael Clements, Allison Brooks, Tommy McFly and Susan Roberts.

It was rumored Whitney Houston would make an appearance but Washingtonians had to settle for Ricky Schroder for the evening’s only “celebrity” sighting. The actor is in town for the GI Film Festival this week. And we hear Saturday he tried to serenade DC’s ladies with the “Silver Spoons” theme song…
