A rule of thumb we have found utterly unbreakable: free drinks are good drinks. Yesterday evening, we found ourselves enjoying an overabundance of good, free drinks at one of DC’s trendiest Dupont hangouts, Hudson Bar & Lounge for What's The Deal DC's Free Drinks Happy Hour. Guests snacked on Hudson’s delish appetizers while trying to make the most of their two free drink tokens (poker chips: cute) A collaboration with What’s The Deal DC and Veev, an “acai spirit” that not only tastes heavenly but also is environmentally friendly (take a shot, save the world—we like) allowed all Happy Hour patrons to enjoy very generously rationed drinks on the house. Although we were given a mere two drink tickets per attendee, this blogger found herself a bit slurry and blurry thanks to generous pouring by the bartender, who provided a delightful ratio of Veev to soda.
What’s The Deal DC, a group-purchasing site akin to Groupon and Living Social, has sponsored four happy hours this summer and is hoping to inebriate us on their tab every week to come. Admission by guestlist: sign up at www.sowhatsthedeal.com to sip, chug, and frolic with DC’s young and thirsty.

We sat down with Anne Pasternak for a few questions about Creative Time's past and future, as well as the importance of having an awareness about public art in the city.
