Finally. We, The Pizza!

by KELLI CHEEVER · July 28, 2010

We, The Pizza opened its doors Monday night following a tremendous amount of anticipation and excited  hype for Spike Mendelsohn's second D.C. quick-bite restaurant.  On his heels of Good Stuff Eatery's golden success , Mendelsohn extends his proven recipe of quality ingredients, fast service and affordable take-away to We, The Pizza located next door to Good Stuff on Capitol Hill.

Upon arriving on Monday night, we were greeted by the most wonderful Greek man to entertain our hungry souls as we waited in the slow-moving line outside the restaurant.  Even better was our view of Mendelsohn in the front window, (adorably) working away at making some pies.

Once inside, it was obvious the restaurant was working out some kinks to fix the snail-like pace of the line, however, this patron feels the wait was well worth the time.

The slices are amazingly priced, around $3-$4, and all have some creative twists that would even please Tom Colicchio, judge on Bravo's Top Chef.  My mouth watered gazing at the delectable white pizza and the buffalo mozzarella with basil.  I have to say though, the most delightful aspect of my first We, The Pizza experience, besides staring at Mendelsohn, was the pleasant surprise of the soda station.  Freshly made sodas including:

    ginger

    grape

    coffee

and many more are made right in front of you, and taste like carbonated nectar.  What a perfect remedy for the sweltering D.C summer.

So if you're walking on Capitol Hill, and see someone carrying a trendy We, The Pizza box, don't let the temptation pass you by and check out this fresh-to-taste, wallet-happy pizza joint.
