#4 Opera

#4 Opera Lounge It is almost offensive how many awesome parties have happened here. It's like Opera is hogging them. Jennifer Hudson had her milestone 30th birthday party here and Wale launched his album here last weekend. Their opening party was unlike anything I had ever seen--literally everyone was there. Opera has club promoters and the line is usually pretty long because of it, but their "permanent list" of 400 VIPs is what's tough to get on. These 400 VIPs will soon get a card that lets them skip the long line and don't have to go through the hassle of getting on the guest list every dang time they want to get in. "We worked for weeks coming up with the perfect VIP list for the VIP preview," said their PR coordinator Erika Paola Gutierrez. So, if you were invited to their VIP preview, expect a card from them soon. Your best bet: Lurk around on Facebook for an invite to the night you want to get in, and show up early so you don't have to wait too long. If you know someone famous inside: Make sure you know them personally. Opera is kind of small inside and the bouncers can pinpoint everyone from the stairs, so if you're not actually there to see a VIP you could make an ass of yourself when your VIP is called over. If you're rejected: Recess is nearby, as is the Sofitel Hotel bar. Either of these places might accept your money if Opera won't.
