Sidwell Friends Alum Nana Meriwether First Runner Up At Miss USA Pageant

by Sophie Pyle · June 5, 2012

Sidwell friends grad Nana Meriwether, 27, was second place at Sunday night's Miss USA pageant. She represented Maryland in the beauty competition.

Nana was also a Guest of a Guest Hot Hundred, and you may recognize her from when she walked in the Fashion for Paws show (she raised $5,000 for the Washington Humane Society).

The Washington Post gushed about her resume, which is very impressive:

At Sidwell — where she graduated six years after Chelsea Clinton and six years before Sasha and Malia Obama enrolled — Meriwether broke school records in track, lettered in basketball, and was the Washington Post’s Player of the Year in volleyball. She started at Duke before transferring to UCLA, and was invited to train and try out for the 2008 U.S. Olympic volleyball team. During the pageant broadcast, she said she also played professionally in Puerto Rico.

She has plans to go to med school.

Nana was edged out of the top prize by some chick from Rhode Island. Boo.

    Congratulations, Nana!
