DC Battle of the Brunches: Koodeta at Neyla

Last Saturday, Georgetown mediterranean eatery Neyla hosted the first Koodeta brunch party of the year. And between the facepainting, transvestite dancers, and 3 liter bottles of Veuve Clicquot, it's safe to chalk up the inaugural party as a full-blown success.

Taking cues from well-established brunch parties, the minds behind the party at Koodeta and Red Carpet Events kept the party lively with face-painting, costumed transsexuals, and live drum beats by Mehdi. LA based DJs La Flur and Stark bumped out predominantly house music, and seemed to enjoy the party themselves.

Although this town may be famous for its ubiquitous professional brunch, the District is certainly not known for wild brunch parties. Koodeta and Red Carpet are looking to change that with their new Saturday brunch at Neyla, and we only expect these parties to keep getting crazier. It's not every Saturday that Guest of a Guest gets to party with transsexual strippers in broad daylight, and we can dig it.
