Video Of The Day: Hope For Anacostia

by MADELEINE STARKEY · August 17, 2010

Typically, when DCites hear "Anacostia," they think of that place across the river where way too many crimes, murders, and other untoward activities goes down.  But this D.C. based guy who makes movies, Chris Keener, in conjunction with the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, headed over the the wrong side of the river to show us just how much Anacostia has going for itself.

First, it's got Good Hope Road SE.  Now THAT is a good sign (the pun was not initially intended, but now we realize just how perfect it is).

Anacostia is also rife with history (Frederick Douglass's house is over there).  But Keener's actions with the camera speak louder than our words, so watch:

Hey, doesn't the instrumental at the end of the video sound familiar?...
