University Club

Many fine private clubs host weddings, but the University Club is one of the city's finest. And since the required membership is tightly guarded, it's also one of the harder venues to reserve... for outsiders, at least. Built in 1899, the nine-story Club was designed in the style of a Renaissance palazzo, and is distinguished by its extensive library and its enviable private art collection of great American painters. And while the College Hall Ballroom, located on the first floor, would make a lovely space for a reception, the University Clubs's real crown jewel is on the seventh floor: the Main Dining Room, which adjoins an outdoor terrace and a frescoed antechamber. Altogether, it can hold up to 340 guests, which at $210 per person could be quite costly. But hey, it's still cheaper than four years of tuition.
