Weekends In The Hamptons, Welcome To "The Good Life."

hanging out at surf lodge [Claire and I after paddle boarding with instructor Zack Bliss and Luigi Tadini at Surf Lodge]

Summer has always been my favorite season. Not even the yuletide blessings that surround me each holiday season can compare with weekends like this. After our taping with Plum TV and the after party soirée with the entire crew at Wolffer Estates, Claire and I got to hang with the men behind Surf Lodge on Friday, shop around for the best lobster roll in Montauk with Luigi Tadini all day, and then later burn it off Hawaiian-style via paddle boarding on Fort Pond behind Surf Lodge.

Later that night I tried my hand at cooking (an adventure that happens once in a blue moon), and relaxed the night away with tomato beers and fresh air.

More story and photos from our weekend adventure:

East end hosipce summer galaSaturday was beach day. And what a day to spend at the beach (in Sagaponack) with friends. After a foggy run in the sand (best workout EVER), the cool ocean water was an incomparable reward. A late lunch interview with Tennis Pro Heinz, Some snaps with Izzy Gold at his trunk show at Blue & Cream and then a (long but incredibly worthwhile) drive out to Quogue with our new favorite "Zev" who helped us document the "Golden Age of Hollywood" at the East End Hospice's "Roaring 20's" themed gala at the Sand Acres Estate.

I have literally not had that much fun dancing with strangers in YEARS...it was like a wedding where everyone was part of the bridal party. The folks in Quogue, REALLY know how to throw a party. We were a little surprised at how much fun we had, and tres impressed.

bonfire on beaches of hamptonsWe got back late, but just in time to watch a couple more rounds of delicious Sagoponack drift wood be devoured by a hungry beach bonfire. Claire was beat from all the festivities as you can see....she missed out on philosophical talks, which, broken down spoke nothing more of how fortunate we all were to be happy and healthy on these beautiful beaches.

Sunday was bike rides, free training from women's health, catching up on reading, and Sag Harbor Lobsters and Mussels....

My home state's (Nebraska) motto is: "The Good Life." When you enter the state, all of the signs say "Welcome to the Good Life" as if crossing some imaginary line will transport you to a worry free land, free of hardships. Besides being too far from the ones I love, this place is my new "good life", and now we have all week to show you why....
