It took over 8 years of research. What did that look like for you?
I did other things in the meantime, but I love researching. Pretty Things was about the same amount of time. For me it’s the best part – just being lost in a library, on an endless treasure hunt, unsure of where I will end up, meeting assorted characters both fictional and historic, even other obsessive library types like myself in the archives across America (and in England), who are nose deep in old files and brittle papers.
