What You Need To Know: Huntsman has had a long career in politics and diplomacy. He has served as U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, U.S. Trade Representative, Governor of Utah, and most recently as the U.S. Ambassador to China, which he left the post of to declare his candidacy as a GOP party nominee. As governor of Utah, he slashed taxes by $400 million while still maintaining a budget surplus.
Factor which may influence his standing in the polls: He, like Romney, is a Mormon. (side note: He studied Mandarin Chinese because of his missionary work in Taiwan, and now speaks it fluently.)
