What would a girls' night out be without a round of cosmopolitans? Would
Sex and the City have been the same? Do we even want to consider the answers to these questions?! Let's just raise our martini glasses and be grateful for this cocktail's creators, who seem to have come up with the recipe independently or just in a moment of telepathic alcohol inspiration.
In any case, one such credited cocktail creator is bartender (and
author!) Toby Cecchini, who created the internationally recognized version of this martini glass masterpiece in 1987 on our very own island of Manhattan. Cecchini - who owned dive bar Passerby until it closed in 2008 - is said to have based his recipe on a described version of Miami bartender Cheryl Cook's that called for
regular vodka, Rose’s lime juice, and grenadine. The result?
