Snacks In Front, Party In The Back: Finally, A Bodega Speakeasy!

by Jewels Tauzin · April 13, 2021

Bodegas are a dime a dozen in New York, and for good reason. After all, never being more than two blocks from life essentials such as a Diet Coke or a post-night-out Bacon Egg & Cheese is a pretty integral part of the city experience.

And while at first glance The Little Shop may appear to be just another charming neighborhood convenience store, it's packing a very special, unexpected, chic surprise that will have you getting dressed up for your next Cheetos run.

Posted up at the very back of the store, past the $1.50 coffee station and requisite wall of gummy bears, is a sliding door that will transport you to a hidden lounge bursting with colorful prints and vintage vibes.

In an interview with Vogue, Co-founders Anna Bazhenova and Philippe Boujnah shared how they happened upon the idea for a bodega / speakeasy mashup, explaining, “After one very drunk dinner, we were like, everyone needs a bodega... everyone needs a Bandaid, everyone needs water, or Diet Coke. We’ve seen moms, like, run in to grab sprinkles for their children for the next day, and then sneak away for a glass of wine."

Seriously, this place has everything. Batteries, gum, and NyQuil out front, cocktails, sandwiches and Instagrammable scenes in the back.

    Reserve your spot today!
