College Kids
Julia and Vladimir were born and raised in Paris, but both went on to study in the United States. Julia went to Parsons School of Design while little brother, Vladimir, chose the West Coast and attended the University of Southern California. Vladimir studied in the prestigious film school. On his choice of USC and film studies
he says,
“I was really into Westerns. I think I always had this admiration for the U.S. as a kid, and I think that this was the image of the cowboy. This very strong, powerful man, a horse, saloons, and beautiful ladies.”
At Parsons, Julia said that she got some unwanted attention from classmates thanks to her last name. Carine acknowledges that her children will always be bound by their name, but that it also gives them an advantage. However, she didn't want Julia and Vladimir to simply be seen as "Carine's kids" and that's why she ultimately decided to send them to the United States for school.
She says,
“There’s a lot more possibility than maybe you can have in Paris. And in a way we almost raised them with this idea.”
