In a city full of business...men, DC is often labeled as a male driven city, when in fact, DC happens to be full of established and powerful women. So, in honor of these hardworking  District females, ladies (and gents),  make your way to the Miss Empowered event panel to learn about the District's top female entrepreneurs and hear their success stories!

On Tuesday, November 18th, Alexandria's burgeoning co-working space, Connect113, home to many entrepreneurs and startup-hopefuls, will welcome some of DC’s most prominent self-made women for a night of networking and discussion. The ‘Miss Empowered’ event is the first of it's kind featuring female entrepreneurs who have been able to successfully pursue their passion in the District while also becoming advocates for social change. The panel topics will explore business inception to lessons learned, and the importance of female empowerment; what it means for the female to play such a intricate role in today's often male drive society.

The esteemed Empowered panel will feature Tigerlily Foundation Founder and Bliss Magazine Publisher Maimah Karmo, Sarah Hillware, former America's Miss DC 2012 and Founder of Girls Health Ed, Ashley Boalch Darby, former Miss DC 2011, Eve Monica, Founder of Sip with Socialites, and Lindsey Mask, Founder of Ladies America.  The insightful panel session will be moderated by Glenda Fu, Founder of Dreams For Kids DC, who will lead the audience through each women’s journey to success and their dedication to philanthropy. All of these ladies have created their own names in a male-dominated business world and with their success have found ways to give back to the community.
