Ping Pong 129

Though Ping Pong 129 only opened a couple of months back, it has already garnered a loyal following. This Spanish Gin & Tonic lounge is unlike anything in Hong Kong, partly due to its unique space and setting, and partly due to its affinity for Spanish gin. A former ping pong studio transformed into an eclectic bachelor-pad inspired lounge, hints of its past remain through their tiled walls and vintage-style windows. Pop art by the famed King of Kowloon are on display, while provocative black-and-white nudes line one of its walls. The neon red lights spelling out ‘Train Your Body’ in Chinese characters on the liquor shelf above the bar adds the right amount of character. Almost half of their menu is dedicated to Spanish gin and a selection of tonics. The other half is filled with delicious Spanish wines and beers, and standard liquor, such as vodka, tequila, and whisky from all over the world. Mouth-watering tapas such as croquetas and padron peppers complement the list of libations. Ping Pong 129, 129 Second Street, Sai Ying Pung, Sai Wan Ping Pong 129 [Photo courtesy of Ping Pong 129]
