Grace Kelly & Prince Rainier
Grace Kelly won an Oscar in 1955 for her role in George Seaton's The Country Girl and that same year found herself at Cannes. Prince Rainier of Monaco was in a bit of a bind, because if he couldn't produce an heir, Monaco would be annexed by France. A meeting arranged between Kelly and Rainier led to their subsequent correspondence, and after the necessary preparations were made, the pair were married. Their lives together are chronicled in the upcoming film Grace of Monaco starring Nicole Kidman, which will premiere in Cannes this May.
