Forest Whitaker, Best Actor, Last King of Scotland (2006)
In 2007, Forest Whitaker won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of vicious dictator Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland. Whitaker described his long journey from East Texas, to South Central L.A., to Hollywood: “It is possible for a kid … who believes in his dreams, who commits himself to them with his heart, to touch them and to have them happen…”
