Harriet Tubman on Escaping

One of the most heroic activists of the period was Harriet Tubman, "Conductor" of the Underground Railroad. Harriet escaped slavery, then courageously, returned to free thousands of enslaved people, leading them to freedom in the North.

One truly fearless woman, indeed!
