Acting
While still in high school, Sevigny befriended budding film director
Harmony Korine, who cast her as a lead in his film
Kids (1995) alongside a then-unknown
Rosario Dawson. The highly controversial movie, which portrayed teenage sex and drug use during the AIDS crisis, would become a cult classic, and led to Sevigny's casting in a number of independent films, including
Gummo (1997),
Palmetto (1998), and Whit Stillman's
The Last Days of Disco (1998).
