Donna Summer died today, May 17, 2012. She was 63 years old. Summer was a nominated to become a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, and according to USA Today, she was the first female artist with four No. 1 singles in a 13 month period, and one of two females to have 19 No. 1 dance hits (the other is Madonna). Summer's family released a statement regarding the singer's death earlier today, and there has already been an outpouring of support from around the world.
