Vampire Academy and Beyond
-Released in February 2014,
Vampire Academy stars Zoey as Rose Hathaway, a half-vampire whose job it is to protect the peaceful vampire princess (who also happens to be her BFF) from the evil vampires called the Strigoi.
Phew!
-As the latest in blood-sucking, fan-favorite fiction, the flick is sure to be a hit among the young adult crowd.
-But even if you prefer the whole vamp genre remain in some Hollywood coffin, everyone can appreciate a little female-led, butt-kicking action now and then. With films like
The Hunger Games and
Divergent gaining popularity, Zoey has firmly secured her place among the newest wave of fierce heroines.
-And it probably won't be the last time we see her in a role like this. As she recently told the
Daily Mail:
"I don’t think I necessarily have the kind of energy or vibe to be a damsel in distress, so I’m happy to hopefully play these kinds of parts for the duration of my career."
-If it's any indication of her future success, Zoey has already received a seal of approval from former co-star (and original vamp-fighter), Sarah Michelle Gellar. Tweeting a photo of herself alongside Zoey's
VA promotional poster, she said: "Check this out!! You sure u know how to use that stake?" Hey, if Buffy approves,
we approve.
