Last night, charitable and art-savvy New Yorkers congregated at The Wooly to support the wildlife endangered by the Gulf Coast oil spill. An eclectic set of leggy models, downtown hipsters, and impeccably groomed socialites partied in the best way possible... with a conscience.-
The event was hosted by The Endangered Species Coalition and jewelry magnate Waris Ahluwalia of House of Waris. The guest list included fashion and film's finest, and model Dree Hemingway and actress Leelee Sobieski were in attendance. The antique wall-papered, understated yet super swanky hangout provided a subtle and classy atmosphere for the night. Guests downed cocktails and lounged on vintage silk upholstered sofas, and the scene was eerily reminiscent of a 1920's speakeasy.
The night included a private art screening and then a live auction of selected pieces of art and unique experiences. All proceeds of the benefit went towards helping the more than 40 endangered species at risk. Guests could do their part in saving the world, one painting at a time.
