Ron English's "Immortal Underground" Exhibit Opens At Opera
[All photos by Michael Plunkett for PMc] Last night, Ron English premiered his latest (and strangest) exhibition, dubbed "Immortal Underground," at the Opera Gallery in New York City. Muses for the collection included the Incredible Hulk, "cowgirls," and Ronald McDonald…oh my.-
English took these familiar characters and transformed them into more surreal and detailed pieces of art, including performance art. A portrait of Charlie Brown (with his skull visible through his gaping smile) hung amongst other paintings as English's dancing cowgirls gallivanted around socials and art enthusiasts alike. Must have been a bit like Alice in Wonderland, no?
