Meryl Streep and Mario Batali were thick as thieves at last night's Rouge Tomate party where they, along with co-stars Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe and Jason Schwartzman, director Wes Anderson, and a host of celebrity well-wishers celebrated the success of the thoughtful, innovative, and, yes, fantastic, Fantastic Mr.Fox . -
The party, hosted by Quintessentially, was quite the affair, attracting a star-studded crowd. Alexa Chung was there, looking effortlessly cool as usual in skinny jeans and a black necktie, talking animatedly to a group of friends. Nora Ephron, who wrote Julie and Julia, stopped by to support her former co-star Streep. Matthew Settle spent the entirety of the party making conversation with his friend, and Woody Harrelson was enthusiastically greeting his friends in the cast. Bob Balaban was there of course (I have never attended a New York Screening at which he wasn't present), and Jason Schwartzman's Bored To Death collaborator Jonathan Ames.
Roald Dahl's daughter Ophelia gave a nice speech at the beginning of the screening, and introduced her mother in the audience, Academy Award actress Patricia Neal, who you might remember from Breakfast At Tiffany's. Olivia Thirbly, Gaby Hoffman and Zac Posen rounded out the younger set.
