Slide #13

13. Karl Lagerfeld tells it like it is at the Chanel cruise show at Versailles. Lagerfeld held a Marie Antoinette–themed collection on the eve of new socialist President François Hollande's inauguration; however, realizing the irony, he ensured that his show wasn't a political stunt. Check out some quotes he said below!
" [It] is not about one government. The world of luxury is another world from that of daily life. This is what the French do best; perfume, champagne — luxury. These are the exports, so we better make an effort and not believe the world is all … just normal."
On the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibit he said, "I am against museums and exhibitions in fashion. One woman said to me — 'In my world, the world of art' — so I said: 'Oh, don't you make dresses any more?' ... If you call yourself an artist, then you are second-rate." On celebrities and red carpets he said, "Now, everyone is bought … Most of them [the actresses] have contracts [to wear the clothes]." On his beloved book collection he said, "I am a brain-bodybuilder. Schwarzenegger of the brain." [NYMagazine] [Karl Lagerfeld via] Check out a Timeline of Karl Lagerfeld Most Outlandish Quotes HERE.
