Nike Offends Irish American's

6. Irish American's are fuming over Nike's newest pair of kicks. Just in time for St. Patrick's day, the sneaker company launched their new beer inspired "Black and Tan" trainers this Saturday. Critics are saying, the company has evoked painful memories of the Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve Force, who were given the nickname the Black and Tans for their nontraditional uniforms. The Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve Force were known for using uncompromising measures to enforce British "Home Rule" in Ireland. [Dailymail] A spokeswoman for Nike said:
It is not the official name of the shoe. It has been unofficially named by some using the phrase and we recognize it can be viewed as inappropriate and insensitive. We apologize and no offense was intended.
