5. After the Jil Sander's brand has been kept afloat by designer Raf Simons, Sander herself is back after being absent for 7 years. Sander is returning her personal touch to the runway, debuting her new men's wear collection this Saturday at the Piazza Castello showroom. Sander spent her hiatus working with
Uniqlo in Tokyo
where she created the collaborative brand +J. Sander told The New York Times,
"It was great for me. I learned a lot...I am having to bring it back to our heritage."
After her numerous ups and downs in the 90s with fashion giant Prada in regard to her position designing women's wear, Sander is thrilled to bring back her company that she started in 1968. [
