Cardboard Converse
Although
Converse isn't usually considered "high fashion" they are the quintessential American shoe. Their laid back attitude has been reflected by their patrons, especially Chuck Taylor. Artist, Mike Leavitt takes the anti-fashion shoe to a different artistic level. His press release states,
"In his work, a cheap, disposable material comprises an expensive product, similar to the manufacture of boutique footwear. His cardboard shoes suggest commercial viability is now an urgent reality."
In addition to Converse, Leavitt recreated a cardboard version of numerous different shoe brands including
Puma,
Adidas, New Balance, and even Crocs.
