Félix Bonilla Gerena: Landscapes of Bajura at Tripoli Gallery of Contemporary Art

Tripoli Gallery is pleased to announce Puerto Rican based artist Félix Bonilla Gerena’s solo exhibition entitled Landscapes of Bajura, on view at 30A Jobs Lane in Southampton. This will be Gerena’s fourth solo show with the gallery for which he will present a rich array of both older works and his most recent paintings and mixed media compositions to date. Landscapes of Bajura will be on view through July 9. Gerena’s works are striking in their masterful use of color and movement of line, as each canvas depicts one magnificent environment after another. La Bajuras, a word given by the locals of the area, is a utopian refuge at Jobos Beach, Puerto Rico. Tourists come from all over the world to enjoy the beach’s paradisiacal locale where the landscape’s colors seem brighter, the light purer and the sand like silk. This is a place that is intended for the fleeting visitor, and similar to Eden, it is to be enjoyed in small amounts, as overindulgence can be a trap from which one may never be freed.
