[Photo via] At home, I walk or ride my bike and on a lucky night, a cop will offer me a ride home free of charge. Not quite the case in the spread out land of the Hamptons. I'll be leaving in Big Red, the red Land Cruiser from 1980s. New or old, a car is a necessity out here unless you plan on being the weird skinny lady on the side of the road who walks everywhere. I wasn't trying to establish quite that reputation out here. I'm now used to and prepared for the long and and slow traffic on Route 27 and the $75 cab rides.
