A Guest Of A Guest Hamptons Beach Bag: Kristin Luciano Unpacked

by KRISTIN LUCIANO · June 10, 2009

[Plum TV's Nick Leighton interviews GofG's Kristin Luciano] Since each one of us here at the G of G crew is as different as the areas of the Hamptons, it’s a given that the contents of our beach bags would be too. Sharing all our favorite beach necessities from bikinis to beverages by emptying out our beach bags for you would be the best way to let you get to know us a little better. So each week you can look forward to one of us filling you in on what we lug around with us when we’re out in the Hamptons - besides our laptops, of course.  Take a look through Kristin's Bag...

When I plan on going to the beach for the day, I like to pack knowing that I have everything in the event that something suddenly springs up.  This linen bag made by Enshallah/Soukwear, has enough room for all of your beach necessities and even a pair of party shoes or a clothes change for later. Not only is this bag decently priced at $60 but Enshallah/Soukwear takes surplus sugar bags and transforms them into cute beach bags such as this one called, souk-a-sacs.

There is clearly already a theme with me liking blueish hues. This Classic-Mat-Sky colored  70’s Peephole Bandeau Bikini by Lover is one of the best bathing suits I have ever purchased. The color brings out a tan well and the suit in general stays on your body so you don't suffer any wardrobe malfunctions.

This 100% silk dress may not look like much in the picture, however, it is my dream beach coverup/sundress. Made by one of my favorite brands, Kristensen Du Nord (KDN), all pieces made by KDN are hand dyed and have a built in fresh-linen smell so no matter how many times you wash it, the piece will always smell amazing. At a lofty original price tag of $680, it is no wonder that this dress will continue to remain my dream beach coverup/sundress.

I purchased a pair of these sandals less than a month ago, and have already worn off the J.Crew logo on the heel of the sandal. They are perfect to slip on for the beach and with the rubber sole having a 1 5/8" wedge they also give you a little extra height.

When it comes to hats, the bigger the brim the better. I bought this hat made by San Diego Hat Co. last year in red, and it is my go-to beach hat. With the brim's radius at a whopping 8", you can bet that your skin will be protected form the sun's harmful rays.

After losing my favorite pair of vintage never-got-the-name sunglasses, I succumbed to Ray Ban fever and bought myself a pair. Although slightly different in shape from the classic aviators, these Cockpit shades look great with no matter what I am wearing.

This is by far the most entertaining beach book I have ever read. Why Do Men Have Nipples? contains enough material to read for several hours on end and your friends will be begging to read along with you. The book is in a general Q&A format, containing questions you have always wanted to know the answer to. Ex: Can Lip Balm be addictive?, Can people in wheelchairs have sex?, or Do the kind of underpants men wear affect their fertility?

Between the ocean and the sun, my lips often burn and dry out quickly at the beach. However, this chapstick has SPF 15 in it, so it not only keeps my lips moisturized but also prevents them from becoming lobster red.

I love being tan, however, with all the medical news about increasing skin cancer rates, I do not take want to take any risks so I now use SPF 30 or above. When it comes to sun tan lotion, I am a Coppertone girl all the way. I love the smell so much that during the winter, I sometimes put this lotion on just to get me out of the winter blues and bring me back my warm summer memories.

Having a big towel is important to me when at the beach. It serves two important beach purposes: lounging and drying off. With the ocean not heating up out here until late June/early July, it is necessary to have a XL towel. This beach towel partly made of organic cotton and the beautiful coral color is from low impact dyes so it is also environmentall friendly.

    Right Now I'm Listening To:

Want to know what the rest of the G of G crew keeps in their beach bags? We’ll be filling you in as the summer goes on.

Check back next week to see what Kendra has in hers!
