Lands' End

Lands' End
Land's End, the Long Island estate rumored to have inspired Daisy Buchanan's unhappy home in The Great Gatsby lost its battle for salvation in March 2013. After a tumultuous on-and-off again relationship with the market, the 13-acre property was listed for the first time in 2009 at a cool $30 million. The house was once a Colonial Revival mansion on the tip of Sands Point, with 25 rooms. It will now become Sands Point Village, a development of five $10 million homes. It will be a far cry from the place that played host to the likes of Winston Churchill, the Marx Brothers, and the Fitzgeralds. The developer stated that "the value of the property is the land."
