3:00pm: Tan on the Island's Beaches
Once you're done with lunch, head over to Crescent Beach or Shell Beach for some good old tanning time. Some say that Crescent Beach is the best beach to have a party, while Shell Beach is the best beach for some peace and quiet. Crescent Beach is over a half a mile long and is the island's most popular beach. It has a fantastic view of Southold and Greenport, and is the home of several restaurants and hotels, which is perfect for enjoying a nice cocktail on the beach. Shell Beach overlooks West Neck Harbor, the Shelter Island Sound and the Peconics. This beach is a half a mile long and located on a long peninsula with a dirt road. It is usually less crowded than Crescent Beach. Make sure you get a parking pass before heading over to any beach on the island!
