You Should Know: Bettina Prentice

by Christie Grimm · August 29, 2016

Bettina Prentice. Have you ever heard so proper, so diaphanous a name? Well, if you're at all clued into the art world's fashionable goings on, then yes - yes you have. Flowing skirts and boho patterned tops at the ready, Bettina's got more than just the Hamptons art game on lockdown - forever that girl out and about whose outfit makes you wish you had been a bit more creative that morning.

Name: Bettina Prentice
Occupation: Founder & Creative Director, Prentice Cultural
Place of Birth: New York City
Instagram / Twitter: @BettinaPrentice
Zodiac Sign: Gemini

What do you actually do? I own a cultural PR agency with three distinct branches: 1st branch handles PR for galleries, museums and art related organizations and nonprofits; 2nd branch handles fundraising and strategic partnerships for art related nonprofits; and the 3rd branch handles special events for arts organizations and luxury brands. Some of our clients include Art Production Fund, Ballroom Marfa, VENUS, Vito Schnabel Gallery, Museum of Arts & Design, The New Museum, ICA Philadelphia, Google, PACE Gallery, BVLGARI and Tiffany & Co.

My motto is: Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty.

5 Favorite Hamptons Places: The Dan Flavin Art Institute in Bridgehampton; Liberty Farms Nursery in Sagaponack; The Watermill Center; The Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack; and Children’s Museum of the East End.

The craziest thing I've done out East is… Pleading the fifth on this one!

Best kept Hamptons secret? Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack is the most magical 2 acre garden on Long Island. On Mondays they have story time for children so pack a picnic.

If you had one day left out East, what would you do? I would spend it with family and friends on Gibson beach in Sagaponack.

Who should we know? My sister, photographer Alix Smith-Mager and my brother Peter Smith, co-founder of Made Close – a transparent marketplace for conscious consumerism.
