Before Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams brought The Vow to the big screen, there was a real couple, Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, upon whose lives the movie was based. In 1993, just weeks after the couple married, a car crash left Krickett with no memory. Not only did she not remember her husband, but she didn't remember that she was married at all. Doctors told Kim that Krickett would never get her memory back-- no matter how many pictures he showed her of them as a happy couple-- so Kim made it his goal to make Krickett fall in love with him again. He took her on dates, bought her gifts, and courted her, as he had the first time around.
