What Were The First Pieces You Ever Collected?

ed and celineEd: The very first piece I ever purchased was in Zanzibar from a street artist.  It was a really long unstretched canvas of 3 Masa Mara women dancing. It’s extremely minimal but captivating. It was $5 and probably one of the best things I've ever bought.  After that was a work on paper by Miriam Cabessa, a really great Israeli painter that we now work with. Celine: The first piece I ever bought was a small original Maurice Sendak drawing of Max from "Where the Wild Things Are". Super silly but I grew up really loving that book and the first gallery I ever worked at sold it to me for a crazy discount so I couldn't say no! After that, I purchased 2 Mark Wiener pieces but now I'm focusing more on emerging artists.
