Helen Frankenthaler & Robert Motherwell
Abstract Expressionist painters Helen Frankenthaler (1928 - 2011) and Robert Motherwell (1925 - 1991) have a joint exhibit on display at Leslie Sacks Contemporary. Frankenthaler used color staining as her primary source of art form, which made her the first American painter after Jackson Pollock to use that technique. Motherwell graduated from Stanford, Harvard, and studied briefly in Columbia, where, in 1941, he quit studying to pursue painting. With first exhibit was in New York in 1944 and thus began his career and legacy at one of the leaders of the abstract expressionist movement, and now his work is on display all over the world. Check out two influential and inspirational painters' works at Leslie Sacks Contemporary this weekend.
