Slide #12

PARALLELS: Thomas Canto
It looks like you can duplicate Thomas Canto's work. The thought will probably cross your mind. An intense abstraction of geometry, it seems like you can use a ruler to even try to mimic a square inch (or centimeter since he's a Frenchman) of his work. But the precision is probably where you would get lost. The incorporation of 3-D elements overlapping and intensifying the geometric base further enhances the depth and spatial perception of his pieces. You can't fully appreciate the meticulousness and accuracy of his work without seeing it in person and actually place your hand through his spacial pieces. You have until October 20th to see Canto's first American exhibit in conjunction with L'Atlas at Fabien Castanier Gallery.
