Instead of standard tales of violence (which, by the way, absolutely have their place in the history hip-hop as well), The Pharcyde were/are weirdos with a sharp sense of humor, lightning quick lyrics, and upbeat, infectious production. Bizarre Ride is an album you can fall in love with the first time you hear it, and obviously holds up enough to pack a crowd of people into the Roxy, many of whom (like me) were 10 or younger when the album first dropped.
